Steve Tyrell is a singer of the great classics from the American Songbook. This interview with Mr. Tyrell was taped and broadcast on the radio in part to promote “I’ll Take Romance” (Concord Records, Release date: February 7, 2012) his collection of love songs. Seeing Steve Tyrell in concert at City Winery in Atlanta was the inspiration for bringing this interview out of the archives.

Tyrell’s performance of the song “The Way You Look Tonight” in the film Father of the Bride, starring Steve Martin, pushed him center-stage as a singer, with live concert performances and a studio and live records. His work in the studio as a record producer has included collaborations with such diverse and legendary artists as Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Linda Ronstadt, Aaron Neville, Mary J Blige, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chris Botti, Dave Koz, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Burt Bacharach, Bette Midler, Stevie Wonder, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and Regis Philbin.
