Joel Oates makes for an entertaining interview and is a natural storyteller. A longtime music fan, he discovered the words and music of Jimmy Buffett and was hooked. The first Buffett fan club started in Atlanta: The Atlanta Parrot Head Club. Joel Oates was in the club from the beginning. He also has many stories from his time as the roadie for the band A1A which was exploding during the beginning of the Parrot Head madness. Joel Oates holds the distinction of attending every single Meeting of the Minds, the annual Parrot Head convention, originally started in New Orleans and now held in Key West. 

This interview was recorded and broadcast 10 years ago to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Atlanta Parrot Head Club. 10 years later, this interview is as humorous and entertaining as ever. It’s right here on The Paul Leslie Hour.
