Jimmy Bowen is a record producer and former rockabilly singer. The story of Jimmy Bowen is that of a man who would change music forever. Starting out as a recording artist and performer, he soon realized he had a fascination and talent for producing records. At a young age, Frank Sinatra hired him as a producer for Reprise Records. Some of the most legendary tracks of all time were produced by Bowen. The duet of Frank Sinatra with his daughter Nancy Sinatra of “Something Stupid,” Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody” and Sammy Davis, Jr.’s “I’ve Gotta Be Me.” All Bowen! Moving to Nashville, Bowen produced the biggest stars in country music: George Strait, Reba McEntire, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Rogers and Hank Williams, Jr. just to name a few.

The Jimmy Bowen story has seldom been told outside of his 1997 book Rough Mix. Fortunately here on The Paul Leslie Hour, we found a great storyteller in the mood to share. Welcome to it
