Anson Williams is a beloved actor who is widely known for playing the role of Warren “Potsie” Weber on the acclaimed television series Happy Days. He went on to work as a television director on such television programs as Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210, Lizzie McGuire, The Secret Life of the American Teenager among others.

Recently, he has dedicated himself to something that could save your life or the life of someone you know. We’re talking about Alert Drops, a wake up aid. Almost everyone has fallen asleep or almost dozed off behind the wheel. Although it doesn’t get as much exposure, driving tired can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Paul Leslie Hour Episode #59 – Don McLean

Don McLean is America’s Troubadour. A singer-songwriter, performing and recording artist, McLean has written and recorded some of the most iconic songs in recorded music: “American Pie,” “Vincent,” “And I Love You So,” and “Castles in the Air,” to name a few. An inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Don McLean’s songs have been performed and recorded by singers ranging from Madonna, Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley, Fred Astaire, Julio Iglesias and most recently Ellie Goulding.

Don McLean will release “Botanical Gardens” on March 23, 2018. This is his first album in nine years. He joins us on The Paul Leslie Hour to discuss his recent work, poetry being “under siege,” the importance of gratitude and so much more. It’s a good one!

Evan Christopher is a New Orleans-based clarinetist and composer. His performances and recordings preserve and perpetuate the tradition of the New Orleans clarinet style, with influences from greats like Sidney Bechet, Omer Simeon and Barney Bigard. After meeting the clarinetist Tony Scott at a Rome night club, Evan Christopher asked him for an autograph. Scott wrote “Good luck on ‘Clarinet Road.’ Lots of curves!” Evan Christopher has been going down that road ever since.

Gainesville, Georgia was a recent stop along the way; where this interview was recorded in the “before hours” piano bar of a hotel. We invite you to listen to an interview with a man who takes the calling of being a jazz musician very seriously, yet all the while remains humble and relatable.

Elliot Mintz made his name as a radio and television personality, interviewing thousands of people, among them: John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Jack Lemmon, Alan Watts, Jack Nicholson, Salvador Dali, John Wayne, Groucho Marx and many others.  Mintz went on to become a media consultant for everyone from Bob Dylan, the John Lennon Estate, Don Johnson and Paris Hilton.

His eyes and ears have seen a lot. It remains one of my absolute favorite interviews to date and we hope you enjoy listening.

A ten time Grammy award-winner, George Benson’s career has been a prolific one: 36 studio albums, and 5 live albums. Some of his songs are perpetually on the radio years and years after being recorded. From instrumental compositions like “Breezin'” to pop songs like “Turn Your Love Around,” or his live cover of “On Broadway,” one thing is certain, the music of George Benson seems to radiate from his heart.

Kellin has performed with his own ensembles as well as in bands comprised of New Orleans musical legends. It’s a great honor to present this interview with a passionate and talented artist. Orange Kellin’s story shows that truly great music will be found by people anywhere, and truly great songs were meant to last. He ends the story with a short solo musical performance.

The Paul Leslie Hour Episode #53 – Sammy Nestico

Sammy Nestico is a composer and arranger who has worked with the most legendary artists in music. Loras Schissel of the Library of Congress said “Sammy Nestico and his music are a national treasure.” Involved in all aspects of the music industry, he’s most known as a composer and arranger, although he is also a conductor and has recorded albums under the banner of “The Sammy Nestico Orchestra.” Nestico has arranged and/or conducted albums for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Phil Collins, Barbra Streisand, Bing Crosby, Natalie Cole,  Ronnie Milsap, Pia Zadora, Sarah Vaughan, and so many others.  Although not as known for his songwriting, he has collaborated with Johnny Mercer, Stan Freberg, Bobby Troupe and Steve Allen. For 14 years he was the composer/arranger for the Count Basie Orchestra.

Dick Hyman is a pianist, organist, arranger, performing & recording artist, composer and music director. If one word could describe Hyman’s career in music, it would be “prolific.” With more than 100 albums recorded under his own name, his albums have been interpretations of all eras of American music, from ragtime and early jazz, to recordings of the great composers like Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers and Duke Ellington. Dick Hyman has extensive experience as a studio musician. Dick Hyman has worked with artists as diverse as Benny Goodman and Art Garfunkel. He’s contributed to countless movies as a film scorer (Moonstruck, The Lemon Sisters, etc.). Hyman is perhaps the most significant musical contributor to the films of Woody Allen, among them Zelig, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Broadway Danny Rose, Stardust Memories, Hannah and Her Sisters, Radio Days, Bullets Over Broadway, Mighty Aphrodite, Everyone Says “I Love You”, Sweet and Lowdown, The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion and Melinda and Melinda.

Dave Mackay is a pianist, keyboardist, singer-songwriter, accompanist and recording artist. Originally from Leicestershire, England his fascination with music and the art of recording has been lifelong. Mackay moved to the United States and studied at the Berklee College of Music. Currently based in Los Angeles, he’s continued his craft of writing and recording songs. Since 2016 he’s been performing alongside guitarist Tab Laven as the touring band of singer Art Garfunkel. The same year he also released his full length record of original songs entitled Restart.
